Winter Oyster Scarf
(Winter Oyster? Who am I kidding?)

I wanted a scarf that looked like it was knitted.  This is close enough.  Good close enough!  It's actually quite textured, though that part doesn't show up after squishing the scarf in my scanner.

Materials
Size 5 cotton thread (I used Anne, by Circulo)
8mm crochet hook

Foundation row: Ch 20, sc in 2nd ch from hook, *sk 2 chs, 5 dc into next ch, sk 2 chs, sc into next ch, rep from * across and turn.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in same st as turning ch, *sk 2 dc, sc into next dc, sk 2 dc, 5 dc into next sc, rep from * across ending last rep with 3 dc into last sc and turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc into first dc, sk 2 dc, 5 dc into next sc, sk 2 dc, 1 sc into next dc, rep from * across ending last rep with 1 sc into top of turning ch and turn.

Repeat rows 2 & 3 until scarf is the length the you'd like.

Edging:  At end of last row, ch 1.  Working down long edge of scarf, work 3 sc in each dc/ch 3 edge stitch, and work 2sc in each sc/ch 1 edge stitch to end.  Depending on which side you're working on you may have fiddle the stitches around a bit ... they're not always clearly visible.  Working along short ends of scarf, work 3 sc in the centre dc of each shell, 3 sc in each sc, and, to tell you the truth, on the other end (the foundation chain) I just fiddled until they were there.  (Sorry I'm not more clear on that.)

This edging isn't very pretty, but it was practical.  It was done at the end of a long day and served it's purpose.
